Union Terrace Gardens

The supposed decision by the council in Aberdeen to “approve” mass demolition of Aberdeen’s central greenspace is unsurprising, but disappointing. Following their mass demolition of Marischal College, one can only hope that sense prevails in the longer term. If Sir Ian Wood would be so minded, a demolition and rebuild of the dreadful Aberdeen seafront is long overdue! In any case, planning will rightly see this kicked into touch.

Fake pubs

I’m finding myself in pretend “pubs” quite a lot. Would fewer people go here if it looked like part of a railway station?

Union Terrace Gardens

The future and potential redevelopment of the middle of Aberdeen has been a topic of heated debate in recent years. During this time various studies have suggested the establishment of various ‘quarters‘, pedestrianisation and most recently the redevelopment / re-building of Union Terrace Gardens. Much of this has also been the topic of funded research (for example).

It is vital that people who care about Aberdeen take the opportunity to voice their opinion on the latest proposals, a consultation for which will open soon.

I will be using this blog to record progress and ideas regarding my research in the areas of visualisation in architecture and urban planning.
